Institutional Funding for Open Access Publications

September 06, 2018

A new MPDL factsheet  provides an overview of the Max Planck wide arrangements by which open access article charges (APCs) are covered or reduced

The aim of the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) is to make Open Access publishing as easy as possible for Max Planck authors. The number of journals in which Max Planck authors can publish open access free of charge because the article processing charges (APCs) are supposed to be covered by central funds is rather impressive. More than 5500 journal titles are already covered! And there are many more relevant Open Access journals, including those not raising any article charges. There are agreements with publishers of Open Access monographs, too.

In order to benefit from central funding of APCs, the corresponding author of the publication must be affiliated with Max Planck and this affiliation must be stated in the published paper. Furthermore, it is absolutely necessary to state your Max Planck email address at any stage of the publishing process as well as in the manuscript itself.

An fact sheet published in August 2018 is available on the MPDL website.
